Our afternoon tour took us to Boca square where Italian migrants working on the docks years ago built houses out of any material they could find. Some walls are corrugated iron others wood from packing cases, each painted a different bright colour. The city is full of parks and squares and surprises, one was an old tree in Palermo Park, a tree so old that it's branches have not only grown out over the footpath and cars parked on the street, but stretched halfway across the road as well. Concrete has been sprayed inside the tree to strengthen it. This park was in the Recoleta area, renown for the street cafes and where you will find the final resting place of Eva Peron. |
